Matej Kľúčik grew up in a countryside, where he experienced an idyllic childhood, later greatly influenced by the advent of the Internet and video games. Thanks to his father, he had the chance to shoot his first films on a VHS camera. After graduating from the Gymnasium in Považská Bystrica, he found himself faced with the question of what he wanted to do in life. He was accepted to the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica, where he began to study documentary filmmaking. He is currently studying at the Studio of Documentary Film Directing at the University of Performing Arts in Bratislava. In his documentary films, he looks at the world and the people living in it through a socio-critical lens, which reflects the current problems of Slovaks.
